Happy Nuptials.
Mr. T. H. Strickler, of Solomon City, Kansas, was married on Tuesday
last at 10 o'clock, at the residence of J. G. Sexton in Indianapolis, to Miss Emma
O. Sexton. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Doddridge, of Fletcher place
church. in presence of a few of the relatives of the parties. The bride is
a daughter of Mr. F. C. Sexton, the well known temperance lecturer and teacher of
this county, and the groom is a relative of the Strickler family at Boggstown, and
formerly resided in Shelby county. He is a well-to-do farmer in Kansas, and
is a young man of much moral worth, intelligence and popularity, numbering his friends
by the hundreds. Many of our people are acquainted with the bride, Miss Emma
Sexton, who graduated at the Shelbyville High School in the spring of 1878, and
has since been teaching school in various parts of the county. She has been
a successful teacher, and is a most estimable lady in all respects.
We congratulate Mr. Strickler on his choice of so excellent a
helpmeet.
Immediately after the ceremony the bridal couple left for their future home at Solomon
City, Kansas. They were the recipients of many handsome and appropriate presents,
and the whole affair was neatly rounded out by an elegant wedding breakfast prepared
at the residence of Mr. J. G. Sexton, the bride's brother. The Volunteer hereby
throws the very luckiest of old shoes after this popular pair, to insure good fortune,
and also sends congratulations, with most sincere wishes for health, wealth, fame
and unalloyed happiness. — The Shelby Volunteer, Shelbyville, Ind., Oct. 18, 1883.
