Miss Vera Agnes Strickler and Mr. Homer Hargiss were married Wednesday morning at 6 o'clock at the home of the bride's mother, 1107 Merchant Street.  Rey. S. L. Grigsby performed the ceremony before a few of the immediate relatives of the bride and groom.  The bride was gowned in cream-colored marquisette, trimmed in imported lace over cream messaline.  The home was prettily decorated with palms, ferns and and flowers.  Immediately after the ceremony, a simple wedding breakfast was served to the guests, after which the bridal couple took an early morning Santa Fe train for Missouri where they will spend their honeymoon.  Mr. and Mrs. Hargiss have a new bungalow nearly completed, on Market Street, and will be at home at once there after their return.

Mrs. Hargiss is a daughter of Mrs. E. F. Strickler.  They have lived in Emporia for the past three years, coming here from Salina.  She is a graduate of the music department of the Kansas State Normal, and the Emporia School of Music and Art, and for the past year has been teaching piano and voice in Halstead, Kan.  She is a young woman of exceptional ability, and has a large circle of friends in Emporia.

Homer Hargiss, or "Big Bill" Hargiss, as he is better known in Emporia, has been one of the town's most well-known school men for a number of years.  After graduating from the Normal School he taught a year in the Marion High School, returning to Emporia last year to take up the work of athletic director and coach for the College of Emporia.  While attending the Normal he made athletic records that placed him among the most prominent men the school ever had.  His work in the College last year showed his ability as a coach in every department of school athletics, and great things are expected from him next year.  He is a young man whose courteous manners and real worth have won for him the respect of all his associates.
