Jim Cordell Letter

Dear "Coach",
Hello again after these many years.
I was delighted to hear your many friends and former athletes were honoring you
with a banquet and testimonial. it is richly deserved and my only regret is
that I cannot be there in person to shake your hand. Regardless, may I add
my sincere good wishes and congratulations.
Bill, I hope you realize what an inspiration
you were to those of us with considerably less than Olympic track abilities.
Your patience in working with us to give us the know-how and above all instilling
in us the confidence and desire to do our best has held us in good stead ever since.
That competitive spirit may be used in many places besides the track field.
I am still an avid track fan and in fact
work closely with my local high school as well as my two boys. Whenever I
attend a track meet, I keep wishing I could be 30 years younger for a few hours
so I could try the fiberglass vaulting pole. It looks like a a great deal
of fun.
Best wishes and continued good health.
Sincerely yours,
Jim Cordell
