^{I am sorry that I will not be able to be in Emporia for the banquet May 28th in your honor as I will be in Minnesota. I would like to very much change my plans but since my wife and others are involved, it is impossible to do so.}

^{I am sure there will be quite a few of your friends and former players that will be on hand to pay you homage and thank you for the things you have done for all of us when we played for you at the University of Kansas.}

^{You can be sure that at approximately 6:00 P.M. on May 28th I will drink a toast to your honor as I look at Lake Miltona in Minnesota and wish you the very, very best.}
