JUNE 11, 1970

Coach Homer Woodson "Bill" Hargiss
1277 Randolph
Topeka, Kansas 66606.

Dear Coach:

With much pleasure I read in the Eagle where your old boys at Emporia had a dinner and homecoming in your honor, May 28.

Wish I could have been with all of you.

Some of my old teammates did make it back including the Dutchman from Dodge, that great all-round athlete George Holtfreritch. Haven't seen George since '22-'23 season when we played for you at Emporia.

Another of your good ones at Emporia, Dunning laid out a championship golf course called Pawnee Prairie here in Wichita, and it's going to be real test of golf. Bob, as I remember played both football and was a good one for you in track.

The same week-end you and your boys were together at Emporia, the Newton OLD BOYS (1897-1928), held their annual reunion, and memorial service in Newton. Many of this group played for you at Emporia, and Lawrence. For this reason, knowing you might want to learn 'where they are now', am sending you under separate cover the particulars and a new roster on the Newton 'bunch'.

Anyhow Bill, congratulations, and may you have good health and happy days for many years.

Yours,

Carmen F. Newland

PS for your information, you and Frank Lindley were the TOP MEN, I played for.
